IMMERSIVE ARCHIVE

SPRING 2024 · VIRTUAL REALITY

Winner of the Augmented World Expo 2024 Best in Show Award.

The Immersive Archive is committed to creating simulations that recreate and showcase XR devices and experiences from throughout the history of immersive media.

Much like a film or internet archive, it aims to collect, restore, and preserve a diverse array of media. However, its unique goal is to offer users an interactive, first-person journey through the evolution of the XR medium, enriched with historical context and archival materials that invite deeper exploration and understanding.

My role focused on creating assets for the reconstruction of past virtual reality experiences and reimagining key historical artifacts, including early prototype VR headsets and environments like the NASA Ames Research Center, one of the pioneering sites in immersive technology. I approached this work with an emphasis on both accuracy and immersion, ensuring that each recreated piece reflected its historical significance while also being engaging in an interactive, first-person setting. By blending technical asset creation with archival research, I contributed to building simulations that allow users to step inside these milestones of XR history and experience them as if they were there.
